Finding a therapist is about the "match" as much as about the skill and experience of the clinician.
Hilary A. Curtis, PhD, LMHC

In therapy, some of our most difficult thoughts and feelings need a supportive place to be heard. I will ensure that our work will be safe and respectful.

I equally enjoy working with adolescents (age 14 and over) and adults. I find that clients who feel the “match” with my work are looking for a practical dialogue about active problem solving, as well as feelings of trust and connection. My style is down-to-earth and grounded in my training and experience as a scientist-practitioner of cognitive-developmental, trauma and neurologically informed treatment.

I have been a therapist, clinical supervisor and program director of community mental health programs serving adolescents and adults with mental health and substance abuse issues for 30 years in Massachusetts. I earned my BA at Cornell University in Social Relations (combined major of psychology, sociology and anthropology), my MEd at Harvard University in Counseling and Consulting Psychology, and my PhD from Boston College in Counseling and Developmental Psychology and Research Methods. I am a licensed mental health counselor in Massachusetts.

I have worked in multiple clinical settings including inpatient/residential, outpatient clinics, schools and courts. I have consulted with local courts and criminal justice networks since 2009 to target trauma-informed clinical interventions for the states opioid crisis, partnering with local towns and the district courts to successfully implement over 5 million dollars in grants for diversionary programming for adults with addiction issues. I am a lifelong Boston area resident and have been in practice in Bostons Metro-West and North-West area specializing in trauma treatment with adolescents and adults in clinics and private practice. I welcome clients of any gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, race or cultural background. I am committed to best practices, high quality services, innovation and laughter as a key component to recovery.
